You won’t find sensitive skin in a medical textbook. But if you have it, you know it! Sensitive skin can sting, itch and burn for seemingly no reason or break out in an irksome and all too noticeable rash. It can be provoked by environmental conditions like heat or cold or riled by ingredients in makeup and skin care products. And it can be irritated by or allergic to whatever’s causing these visible or invisible reactions.

As you can see, sensitive skin can be hard to pin down. But there’s lots you can do to help keep temperamental skin calm and clear.

For years, most dermatologists didn’t take sensitive skin too seriously. But that’s changing. Sensitive skin is common and is finally receiving serious attention.

There’s no hard and fast definition of sensitive skin. That’s why you’re the best judge of whether you have it. “Anytime I put something on my skin, I break out!”, is an often heard complaint of people with sensitive skin.

According to some dermatologists, sensitive skin has certain characteristics: It’s easily irritated by environmental factors like dust and eczema and reacts to certain cosmetic ingredients with irritation or allergy. Sensitive skin is likely to be even more sensitive if it’s affected by another skin condition like seborrheic dermatitis or rosacea.

Winter cold, summer heat, dry air and dust can all provoke sensitive skin. So try to calm your hide by adjusting your environment.

Come in from the cold. Your skin feels more sensitive during the winter because it gets dry and dehydrated. If cold weather aggravates your skin, follow a routine for dry skin. You might also use a humidifier to help keep the air-and your skin-moist.

Beat the heat. Your own perspiration can irritate your skin, so try to keep your environment cool. But don’t park yourself too close to a fan or air conditioner. High-airflow environment can have a terribly drying effect on skin.

Also, consider skipping foundation in hot weather. Face makeup can block your pores, prevent your perspiration from evaporating and possibly trigger a breakout.

Keep your guard up. House dust, molds, grasses, mildew and pet dander can make sensitive skin go haywire. So keep an eye out for potential trigger factors.

Soften your water. Use a water softener if you live in a hard water area. Removing excess minerals from the water may improve its rinsability, washing away cleaner residue that-if left on your face-can rile sensitive skin.

Softer water can also help in the laundry room. Using towels that contain detergent residue can irritate your skin.

Usually when I post new articles to my blog, I do a lot of research for the information that I bring to you. I decided to do it a little different this time and let you in on a conversation I had with my brother about skin care. Yes, my brother, can you believe that! Who knew?

Although I’m close to my brother, in all these years we have never talked about skin care. Now, if it was a sister, I’m sure it would have been different. Anyway getting back to this conversation we had, I was very surprised in finding out that he is very much into the whole skin care thing. He spends a lot of money on products that he uses daily and ones he applies a few times a week.

It got me thinking, what is he buying and what are the ingredients of these products. He read all the ingredients of all the products he uses. I have to admit that I was impressed by his choices. All the ingredients were excellent. They contained all the right things you need for your skin, such as aloe Vera, jojoba oil, all kinds of extracts, natural ingredients, etc.

All these products are great for topical skin care use. They will definitely be nourishing to the skin. However, I did tell him that in order for skin products to really be effective you have to get them to the dermis of the skin. The only way to do this is by some kind of current. This is where my favorite product comes in. The Galvanic Spa System can do just that. By using adjustable current it drives the gels deep into the inner layers of the skin to really help with fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and so much more.

He was surprised that I had such a product and never mentioned it to him. I was equally surprised that he would have even been interested in it. He was very excited to give it a try, but before he made his purchase, I encouraged him to read my page about the Galvanic Spa. After doing so, he was even more excited about it.

Needless to say, he is hooked! He continues to use his skin care products along with the spa (not that you have to) just because I think it makes him feel better. My suggestion to you is to check out what this little hand held gem can do for you and make your own purchase and look and feel 10 plus years younger instantly!

Right now I’m offering a $60.00 savings for a limited time only. So head on over and see for yourself. Find out about some amazing results others have achieved in using the Galvanic Spa System!

What’s so frustrating is that you might be wondering could there really be a way to get rid of your skin issue once and for all. is there something that won’t break the bank and will truly work for YOU. Visits to the dermatologist and filling prescriptions can be time consuming and very costly. So maybe you are looking for something you can use at home to treat your acne, acne scars or other issues. With so many products out there you can find one that will work for you without over spending.

Getting treatment for your scars is most likely on the top of your list of things you want to accomplish and is very important to you. After all looking and feeling your best isn’t really asking for much and you are definitely worth it! The problem is that usually it’s never a one size fits all. What works for one doesn’t always mean it will work for all. But what if you could find a product that would treat your acne scars or other types of hyper-pigmentation, works for all skin types, is natural and non irritating to your skin, doesn’t cost much and you end up getting amazing results, guaranteed?

You definitely should incorporate some kind of microdermabrasion complex as that will bring several forms of exfoliating products that very gently strip away dead skin just to bring out the skin underneath that’s wanting to come to the surface. Also look for ingredients that will help the process along without irritating the skin, such as green tea and comfrey.

Learn more about natural acne scar treatments and other types of hyper-pigmentation to your skin, and how to treat them. Simply click on the link right above and you can be well on your way to scar free, healthier looking skin.

Hives often defy explanation.

There are two types of hives: chronic and acute. Chronic hives-have no identifiable cause, can last for days (sometimes weeks and months) and ebb and flare without warning. Acute hives appear suddenly, usually fade quickly and are most likely triggered by an allergic reaction to certain substances, especially, foods.

The good news is, with acute hives, the first outbreak, can be the last-it’s simply a matter of avoiding the trigger. And while you can’t control a flare-up of chronic hives, you can minimize its discomfort-and, even better, take steps to prevent recurrences.

Compared to chronic hives, which can last up to six weeks or longer, most outbreaks of acute hives are sudden and short-lived. And acute hives can explode so fast you may know immediately what caused them. So, if you think those strawberries are responsible for your misery, your doctor can give you a prick test to confirm whether your hives were brought on by allergic reaction.

If acute hives are making you miserable and you’re stumped as to their cause, consider these possible perpetrators.

Food. Shellfish, fish, peanuts, nuts, milk, eggs and wheat can all cause hives. But since food allergies affect only 2 percent of adults, and testing for diet-induced hives is expensive, think before you test. If you experience nausea, vomiting and diarrhea along with the hives every time you eat nuts, wheat or whatever, the problem is apt to be food-induced. If you have hives but no other symptoms, something else is to blame.

Drugs. Penicillin and everyday aspirin are the most common culprits, but even an allergy shot can cause welts. Take a complete inventory of every drug you take over the course of a month, then ask your doctor if there’s a way to eliminate the offender.

Infections. Hepatitis B and mononucleosis can cause hives, too, and so can thyroid and lupus-type diseases, although that’s rare.

Chronic hives are hardly ever from an allergy, but whatever’s causing them can keep them coming back for years. Worse, with chronic hives, all a prick test tells you is what isn’t causing the problem.

If you can’t discover what’s triggering chronic hives, even partial answers are reassuring. While it can be frustrating that you still have the hives, finding out you’re an otherwise healthy person should be helpful because you won’t have to go nuts about keeping food diaries or worrying about an underlying illness.
