It balances the PH level, and isn't over-drying like so many of the drugstore brands that contain alcohol. If you can't get Proactiv, try plain old witch hazel or tea tree oil. Both kill bacteria and keep pores clean, without over drying. To stop oily skin during the day, try a face powder under your foundation called Mattify! Ultra. It's a silky oil absorbing powder that prevents oil from building up on your face so your makeup stays clean looking and shine free all day. I'm 33 and still get breakouts, but the Mattify! Powder has really cut down on the acne too. LOVE this stuff! It costs around $12 bucks online, just type Mattify! Powder into the search to find it.
